When is yacht week 2011

We only had 10 boats on our route but the BVIs routes have gotten a lot bigger over the last few years. You will find it easier to get a catamaran for this route than other destinations which is great for bigger groups. There is also the famous New Years route which I have yet to experience but looks like a blast and draws a lot more people out than the Spring routes.

Expect quite a lot of additional expenses in the BVIs. There is only one shop in Tortola before you set sail and things are quite pricey. O Otras. Nightlife: 4 This is not a first-pumping electronic music destination. Activities: 4 The BVIs are great for ocean activities, whether you explore the caves and natural baths at Virgin Gorda or sail out for an afternoon of snorkeling.

Local Culture: 5 The island culture plays a big role in how amazing this experience is. There is a lot of sailing tourism in the islands but most businesses are run by locals. In addition, most nights, the boats are all tied to one another and anchored in a way that requires climbing from one to another to get to the shore. Because not everyone eats dinner at the same time, there are constant pre and post parties on the boats.

The schedule is rigorous. Partying until AM some people later and then waking up at or 9 to begin sailing for the day.

The cabins on the boat are too hot to sleep in during the day but the deck is too loud. Some boats smelled and looked like what you could imagine the inside of your stomach looks like after a night of drinking. That stench of vomit mixed with Johnny Walker mixed with latex with absolute debauchery strewn about on the floor: bottles of Diet Coke, Tequila and Red Bull and unidentified stickiness covering every surface not already covered by discarded undergarments and condom wrappers.

But like the worst hangovers, a dirty sticky boat is a telltale sign of a good night. And like the say in Sweden, the sweatier the Swea, the harder you raged. Notify me of follow-up comments via email. Search my site. Sep 21 Reader Comments There are no comments for this journal entry.
