Hungry for more felting goodness? Check out this Needle Felting article. Directions: Put your sweater inside the pillowcase and close the pillowcase with the rubber band. If you are felting more than one sweater, put each sweater in its own pillowcase.
This will prevent damage to your machine since the fibers could clog it. Place the pillowcases in the washing machine. Add jeans to the load. The jeans will increase agitation and will speed up the felting process. Note: You can use towels instead of or in addition to jeans, but beware of lint! Sweaters will pick up lint from the towels, so always wash sweaters in a pillowcase. Use hot water to wash the load.
Note: Too much water will cause the sweater s to float, which will hinder the felting process. These scissors are not cheap, but if you want really great sewing scissors that will last, these are the ones. Anything with ribbing is probably destined for the scrap bin. I was hoping that these would felt nicely, but they were a mess.
Toss your scraps. See those scraps in the bottom right hand corner above? Those get tossed. The ribbed cuff pieces should be tossed too.
Wash on HOT. Put all your sweater parts into a hot water wash with some detergent that will help agitate the fibers. Great post Lisa! And a good dry in the sun gets rid of all the stains! Should I remove the liners before I wash the items? I assume that you want to machine felt them, right?

I've done this in the past with putting a sweater in boiling water on the stove for about 15 minutes and then dunking into cold water.
